Tehran is prepared to reinitiate atomic talks with Washington provided that it is approached with "respect" and "honor", Iran's top diplomat has declared.

Abbas Araghchi declared only diplomacy produced results, and revealed fresh requests had originated from go-betweens to reopen talks with the American leadership. He claimed Iran had zero unreported enrichment locations, and Tehran could not yet permit the International Atomic Energy Agency to access attacked atomic facilities for security reasons.

Navigating a Complex Route

Araghchi is treading a complex course since Iran wishes not to appear to be proceeding from a position of weakness, and he emphatically stated that Iran had arisen more powerful defensively and mentally from the coordinated strike on its nuclear sites in June.

He was talking at a defense forum in Tehran where he reiterated that Iran had "a fundamental entitlement to refine atomic fuel within its borders that it will perpetually retain" – the key factor of the deadlock in the prior discussions.

Prior Talks Suddenly Concluded

The prior phases of talks between the United States and Iran were concluded unexpectedly and hostile conclusion on 12 June when the Israeli government, with US support, struck Iran's enrichment centers in a fortnight-long engagement that concluded with the US president asserting the facilities had been eliminated. Following this, European countries employed their authority to reimpose UN-wide sanctions, but Iran insists they have not had a substantial consequence.

Magic Solution Proposed

Iran's diplomats stated they felt they had attained a "perfect agreement" to the enrichment issue in prior discussions, when it was agreed an local partnership with American involvement could enrich uranium. Each party would have been able to declare success since domestic enrichment would have continued and the US could be assured that Iran's enrichment initiative was exclusively peaceful.

It had not been agreed in the negotiations that American atomic experts could operate on Iranian soil, but that was a reasonable assumption of the cooperative offer. Officials asserted repeatedly they had reached agreement with the US representative Steve Witkoff only for the deal to collapse due to "opponents in the US".

Current Position

Tehran representatives stated the partnership proposal was now withdrawn, but it seems very probable the suggestion could be revived in certain ways if talks reopen.

The American leader in recent days claimed he had been getting signals that Iran desired to restart talks, but in private Iran's diplomats claim they are not yet getting coherent offers from Washington either directly or from significant local go-betweens, such as the Qatari government, Egypt, Oman and the Saudi kingdom. The Tehran's diplomatic corps has been accused of inactivity in the wake of the US president's straightforward manner, but Tehran asserts diplomacy is not part of a performance.

Diplomatic Stance

In his address to the forum, intended to paint the US as a hegemonic power that abuses the concept of worldwide standards, Araghchi stated the fortnight-long engagement revealed the conflict could not be settled by combat operations. He said the strikes began with a US demand for an total Iran submission and culminated with an unconditional call for a ceasefire.

Iran is assured the opening assaults from Tel Aviv were executed with complete American awareness and cooperation, making faith hard to rebuild.

He added: "We managed to survive this war. Our atomic expertise, which they intended to eliminate, continues to exist. The facilities and gear, if eliminated, will be reconstructed; what is crucial is the will of the Iranian people and then the social solidarity that they aimed at, but were unable to shatter. The citizens of Tehran have grown more powerful, more integrated, and more endorsing of the administration and the country in the wake of this assault."
